Rockton man charged for sexual assault of child

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockton man was charged for child sexual assault allegations dating back to 2017.

James D. Ward, 46, was indicted on five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Rockton police say Ward is accused of sexually assaulting a victim under 13 years old. If convicted, Ward faces up to 60 years in prison.

Ward is being held in Winnebago County Jail on a $750,000 bond. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for June 14.

Ward is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
