Rockford woman okay after being robbed in driveway

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 35-year-old Rockford woman is expected to be okay after an armed robbery in her own driveway Saturday night.

Police say the woman was unloading her car around 6 p.m. when a suspect approached the area and demanded her purse. The suspect reportedly grabbed the purse, pulled the suspect to the ground and ran away after the woman refused to give her purse away.

Officers responded to the robbery at the 2200 block of Ninth Avenue, but met the victim at a local hospital after suffering minor injuries. Police classified the crime as an armed robbery, but did not specify any weapon related to the crime.

The suspect is described as a black male around 30 years old and 5 feet, 8 inches.
