ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR) --- The Rockford sustainability Summit invited the community Saturday to join the collaborative effort. Beginning at 10 in the morning, people were able to learn how to reduce energy waste while saving money, explore pant based-diets and overall get a better understanding of the climate crisis.
Attendees were able to go on a guided bike ride tour, watch a documentary and even go to an open house. The event aims to show how the Rockford community is becoming more sustainable.
"We can become aware of our usage of these fossil fuels and try to break away from that, become more conscious of the need to the fact that we need more solar energy production as well as wind energy production," says Ray Empereur, chairperson of Climate Reality Project Illinois.
