Rockford police seek Auto Works burglary suspect

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Rockford Police Department asks for the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect.

The suspect is accused of breaking into Auto Works at 213 South Sixth Street and attempting to steal a car, according to police. He is pictured in multiple surveillance photos.

Police say it happened around 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Police say an Auto Works glass door was broken and several vehicles in the parking lot were damaged.

The suspect allegedly removed cash from inside the business and attempted to steal a silver van. Police say the suspect crashed the van into three other cars before it got stuck in a cement median.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20's to mid 30's around 6 feet tall with short hair.
