Rockford man sentenced to 30 years in prison after a Craigslist deal goes wrong

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 23-year-old man is sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of aggravated robbery.

In September of 2015, Rockford Police responded to the 3100 block of Chateau Court for a possible aggravated battery. When officers got to the scene, they found blood in the roadway. A shooting victim showed up a local hospital a short time after.

Investigators learned the victim was meeting 23-year-old Denzel Reid for a Craigslist deal. The victim was wanting to buy an iPhone from Reid when Reid pulled a gun out and demanded money, when the victim refused, Reid shot him.
