Rockton man convicted for repeated sexual assault of child

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 34-year-old man faces years in prison after a judge finds him guilty for assaulting a 15-year-old girl over two years in Winnebago County.

A grand jury indicted Raul Hernandez Gonzalez after the victim told investigators she was sexually abused repeatedly between May 2015 and July 2017.

Rockton Police and the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office started investigating in Oct. 2017.

Criminal sexual assault is punishable by four to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of a mandatory supervised release.

Gonzalez is scheduled for sentencing March 26.
