WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man is acquitted for the murder of his 16-year-old girlfriend.

Eurel Wilford, 23, was found not guilty for the murder of Keyaira Williams in May 2016.

Williams was found dead in an alley in the 3100 block of Wallin Avenue, suffering from two gunshot wounds. Prosecutors say she was Wilford's "side girlfriend".

Judge Joe McGraw ruled there wasn't sufficient evidence to convict Wilford, who remains in jail on an unrelated charge.

Wilford also faces charges in Cook County for the shooting death of a 10-year-old relative.
