Rockford man convicted of vandalizing Winnebago County GOP headquarters

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man was convicted of criminal defacement for vandalizing the Winnebago County GOP headquarters in 2018.

Timothy Damm, 43, was found guilty Wednesday by a jury.

On Sept. 30, 2018, police observed that the building, located at 515 N. Court Street, had been vandalized. The words “rape” and “shame” were spray painted on three sides of the structure.

Investigators believe the vandalism was related Supreme Court case involving nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who faced sexual misconduct allegations before taking oath of office on Oct. 6, 2018.

Damm faces up to three years in prison and one year of mandatory supervised release. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 9, 2020.
