Rockford man charged with sexually assaulting child, transmitting HIV

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man is charged with sexually assaulting a child and giving the child HIV.

Stephen Grimes, 31, of Rockford is accused of abusing a child under 13.

His charges include predatory criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and criminal transmission of HIV.

Police say Grimes had a relationship with the victim's mother.

The abuse incidents stem from March 2005 to March 2019.

Grimes's arraignment is scheduled for July 12.

Bond is set at $100,000.
