Rockford man charged for beating child, causing fractures

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man was indicted Wednesday for beating a child and causing multiple fractures.

Ray Cherry, 19, was charged with aggravated battery of a child.

Police were called to a Rockford hospital on May 15, 2019 after reports of child abuse. The child reportedly suffered multiple fractures in both legs and the left arm.

If convicted, Cherry faces up to 30 years in prison.

Cherry is set to appear in court on Sept. 19. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
