Detectives catch Rockford man selling cocaine, stealing property

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man was arrested Tuesday night after detectives caught him selling drugs and forcibly taking property from another person.

Edmond Lilly, 27, is accused of selling cocaine in the area of Jefferson Street and East State Street. Detectives observed the area after several community complaints.

Detectives allegedly observed one transaction in which Lilly sold drugs and stole from the customer.

Police say Lilly tried to take off with the stolen property, but was arrested in the 900 block of Furman Street. Detectives recovered cocaine and stolen property during the arrest.

Lilly was charged with delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine), robbery and felony theft.

Lilly was taken to the Winnebago County Jail. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
