Rockford man arrested for battery to a child

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man is arrested for aggravated battery of a child.

On Friday, November 22, 2019, Rockford Police Officers responded to a residence in regards to a report of possible child abuse. Upon arrival, officer learned a minor victim sustained multiple injuries.

The Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident, and the suspect was identified as 25-year-old Travis Weir, who shared a domestic relationship with the victim’s mother.

The facts of the case were reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and the below charges were authorized. A warrant was obtained for Weir’s arrest, and on Friday, he was taken into custody.

Weir was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against him are merely accusations and he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
