Rockford man arrested after stabbing woman over argument

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man was arrested for stabbing a woman Friday morning over an argument.

Police say Aubrey Sikes, 25, shared a domestic relationship with the 50-year-old woman he reportedly stabbed.

Officers were called to the 1400 block of Andrews Street around 2 a.m. following a 911 hang-up.

The victim was reportedly stabbed once in the abdomen. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital.

Sikes was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with aggravated battery with a knife.

Sikes is being held at the Winnebago County Jail. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
