Rockford man accused of shooting at home arrested after hours-long search

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man was arrested after allegedly shooting at a home on Monday in the 1100 block of North Sunset Avenue.

Police arrested Ernesto Sanchez, 23, after searching the home for several hours. Residents told police the suspect was inside after shooting at the home several times.

Once found, police say Sanchez surrendered peacefully. Officers also found a gun inside the home while investigating.

Police learned about the situation with help from a ShotSpotter alert.

Sanchez was taken into custody on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and violation of FOID card.

He was taken to Winnebago County Jail. Sanchez is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
