Rockford man accused of beating man, threatening woman with knives in break-in

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man is behind bars after reportedly hitting one man and threatening a woman with multiple knives during a break-in Sunday morning.

Alfunzo Curtis, 33, faces charges of home invasion, aggravated assault, battery and criminal damage to property.

Police arrived to home invasion reports in the 1200 block of Jackson Street around 4:30 a.m. Curtis reportedly forced his way into an apartment and went into the bedroom while the two victims were sleeping.

Police say the Curtis knew the victims, a 30-year-old man and 33-year-old, and the incident was not random. Officers found Curtis on scene and took him into custody.

Curtis is being held in Winnebago County Jail. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
