Rockford man, a registered sex offender, arrested for sexual abuse of child

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man was arrested Thursday for alleged sexual abuse of a child.

Gregory Massey, 56, is accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 13.

Police investigated a report of sexual abuse on Nov. 8, 2019 around 11:10 a.m. It happened in the area of South Sixth Street and 20th Avenue.

Massey, who is a registered sex offender in the state of Illinois, was identified as the suspect. He was taken into custody on warrant Thursday morning.

Massey was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, unlawful restraint, child abduction, battery and unlawful presence of a sex offender in a school zone.

He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
