ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR) -- The Chinese lunar New Year kicked in over the weekend but Rockford University's Chinese club brought the culture to the forest city to ring in the year of the rat.
The organization along with the office of global affairs host a traditional Chinese lunar New Year celebration complete with all the traditional food. Guests enjoyed hot pot, dumplings, lo mein and traditional drinks. There was also paper cutting, dumpling making and puzzles. Organizers say they wanted other students and guests to feel as if they were taking part in a traditional celebration in China.
