Rockford Rescue Mission in urgent need of food donations
Rockford Rescue Mission says it's in urgent need of food and supply donations.
The organization says it's seen a 13% increase in community members seeking food each day since the start of the year.
Serving more than 500 meals each day, Rockford Rescue Mission says the pantry needs to constantly be restocked.
"As the number of people seeking refuge is increasing, so does our food needs, says Rockford Rescue Mission Executive Director Sherry Pitney. "This means our pantry needs to be restocked much more frequently.”
In particular, Rockford Rescue Mission seeks donations of dry cereal, oatmeal, sugar, milk, dry milk and spices, in addition to 8 oz cups, 12 oz bowls.
Rockford Rescue Mission says all donations are welcome. You can drop off donations at the pantry, located at 715 W. State St., on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekend from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
