ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – If your commute to and from work has been a little bumpier than usual, you’re not alone.
Rockford Public Works crews are busy at work patching up many potholes in the area, thanks to the freezing and thawing cycles we’ve been going through.
The Public Works Department says much of the problem comes with wet snow and rain that covers the roadways, paired with road salt that penetrates the streets’ cracks, creating those potholes.
“If you see potholes, report them to us, so we can get them into the system. We rely on people to tell us where they are because we can’t drive on every street of the city every day or every week,” says Mark Stockman with the Public Works Department.
The best way to reach the Public Works Department is by giving them a call at 779-348-7260. They can be reached 24/7.
