ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Rockford Police come out victorious over Rockford Fire in the 2019 "Battle of the Badges" blood drive challenge.
Rockford Police won the competition, 222-184. Blood donors chose to support a department during the challenge, which ran from Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12.
The challenge is an effort to raise awareness for blood donations and help the Rock River Valley Blood Center maintain adequate blood supply over summer.
As part of a friendly competition, Rockford Fire Chief Derek Bergsten cleaned the police department’s MRAP vehicle.
