Rockford Police raise $4,800 for Special Olympics from 'Cop on a Rooftop'

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Police officers were stationed at hundreds of Dunkin' locations all around the state Friday for a good cause.

The 17th annual "Cop on a Rooftop" returned Friday. Local officers stood on the rooftops of Dunkin' locations to raise money for the law enforcement torch run to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

The Rockford Police Department says it raised $4,800 as locals met with officers at the 11th and Charles street Dunkin' locations.

“Cop on a Rooftop” events have raised more than $4.8 million dollars for Special Olympics Illinois over the last 16 years.
