Rockford Police looking for man accused of hiding in woman's car, attempting to choke her

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 31-year-old woman was not hurt after allegedly being attacked by a man hiding in the back of her car in Rockford on Thursday.

Police learned about the incident around 7 a.m. and responded to the 900 block of South Mulford Road to investigate.

The victim told police the suspect emerged from the back seat and attempted to choke her while she was driving. She was heading northbound near the intersection of Mulford Road and
Newburg Road.

Police say the victim later struck a pile of snow and parked her vehicle in the 900 block of South Mulford Road. The suspect ran away after the car stopped.

Officers say the victim made a brief stop in the area of Stowmarket Avenue and Harrison Avenue. It was possible the suspect entered the vehicle at that time.
