Rockford Police Partner with Rockford Housing Authority on policing throughout RHA developments

ROCKFORD, IL (WIFR) -- We'll soon start seeing more police presence in Rockford housing authority developments thanks to a new partnership between the organization and the Rockford Police Department.

This comes as the two organizations along with the city of Rockford negotiate a deal that would allow for more policing in throughout these developments.

Rockford Police Department says they feel this move will benefit the community by building relationships with neighbors who police can turn to when crimes occur on RHA properties.

That's one of the biggest benefits of having those relationships is when something does happen then we know people that will talk us and we'll know people that we can reach out to and say.. do you have any information on this to help us solve some of the crime that we see occur around the development."

Assistant Deputy Chief Doug Pann could not tell us an exact date when this initiative would start because it's still in the final stages of negotiations however he did say an agreement would most likely be made very soon.
