ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- One man is in custody after police say they caught him in the act of a burglary.
54-year-old Russell Newble is charged with burglary and possession of drug equipment after police responded to a residential alarm in the 3000 block of Lapey Street.
When officers arrived, police say they found a door to a detached garage partially open with the lights on and found Newble inside the garage. Newble was then detained as police spoke to the homeowner who said Newble wasn't supposed to be in the garage.
Investigators say Newble also had a crack pipe on him.
Newble was arrested and charged and taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
