ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Hard Rock has found a new and some would say unlikely partner in its bid to bring a casino to the stateline, the Rockford Park District.
Tuesday night, the Rockford Park District board of commissioners approve a resolution of support for the proposed Hard Rock Casino in Rockford. In addition, Hard Rock Casino has committed to help fund the outdoor amphitheater at Levings Park, the expansion of the Washington Park Community Center, venue improvements at Sinnissippi Music Shell and ongoing support of neighborhood youth programs.
"If you look back at our engagement and feedback we heard back from the taxpayers in 2018. They prioritized youth programs arts and culture. Kids at Washington Park was our top priority so it was really an easy decision to partner with hard rock, said Jay Sandine from the Rockford Park District.
“Jay's been a spectacular contact to deal with. He came to us and approached us with a number of projects that make a tremendous amount of success all around Rockford. And they're just a natural fit to our brand,” Daniel Fischer from Joint Venture LLC, Hard Rock partner says.
The partnership will only go forward if the Hard Rock Casino Rockford proposal is approved by the city of Rockford and the Illinois Gaming Board.
