ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The results are in as the Rockford Auto Show closes its 23rd consecutive year of donating more than $200,000 to local charities.

GiGi's Playhouse in Rockford was chosen as this year's $10,000 winner.

An independent panel of judges chooses entries submitted by members of the community explaining why their favorite charity is so important and unique to them.

Organizers of the auto show say each year the choices are tough but, this year's winner couldn't be more deserving.

"They're a new organization in Rockford but they filled a gap that was definitely needed. It gives a place for kids with Down syndrome to go during school, after school, to get job skills, make great friends. They do really wonderful work," said Rockford New Car Dealers Association President Rachel Bachrodt.

Over the last 23 years, participating dealerships and CherryVale Mall have now donated a combined $230,000 to local charities.
