Rockford Fire responds to early morning vacant house fire

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) ----- Rockford Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire early Sunday morning.

Just after 7:30 a.m., crews responded to 920 Kent Street where they saw heavy smoke coming from the front of the building.

After a quick response, firefighters were able to contain the fire within 30 minutes. Damages to the building are estimated at $70,000.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
