Fifteen organizations across the stateline receive funds to get their projects up and running thanks to the Rockford Area Arts Council.
More than $18,000 was divided between stateline groups. The goal is to award these organizations with the funds so they can begin new projects and initiatives that promote and support the arts in our communities. The funding comes from the Illinois Arts Council. Some of this year's recipients are the Friends of the Coronado, the Rockford Art Museum and the Rockford Park District.
“Everybody in the community benefits when something in the arts is promoted, or developed and supported. So these organizations are creating things in a variety of different mediums and different perspectives and they're contributing to the overall creative culture in Rockford,” said executive director of the Rockford Area Arts Council Mary McNamara Bernsten.
