The city of Rockford buys its salt through a state purchasing program that gives the city a good price on salt. But the salt was never delivered causing many residential roads to turn into ice rinks. But Alderperson Kevin Frost assures Rockford residents that this time around plows will be out clearing main roads first and then will be clearing the snow from residential streets overnight. But even after the snow is cleared, Frost wants to remind you to be careful when taking out the garbage or getting mail along with driving on neighborhood roads.

"Stay off the streets as much as you can and I think it is just really important to slow down in your residential neighborhood and get to an arterial road in the shortest distance possible and to be safe getting to home from the road,” Frost said.
