ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Nuts, bolts, and gears are turning toward competition as Rockford Robotics hosts its open house.
The club made up of area high school students is headed to University of Illinois Chicago next week to show off its robot. The club received their challenge just over six weeks ago, and now they have a moving metal friend ready to race into competition.
Matthew Blessing started with Rockford Robotics four years ago and played a big role in making their new robot.
"There's a high goal, so its a hexagon like eight feet in the air and we're trying to shoot these seven foot dodge balls into that area. So the way that we attack this challenge is through using a turret and using that turret we can shoot from various different angles," Blessing said.
