River City Sound Chorus earns first place in regional competition

APPLETON, Wis. (WIFR) -- The River City Sound Chorus took home first place at the regional Sweet Adelines International chorus competition over the weekend.

The group competed against 14 other choruses at the Performing Arts Center on April 13, 2019.

As regional champions, the chorus advances to international competition in October 2020 at Louisville, Kentucky. The group will compete with nearly 30 of the top regional winners of Sweet Adelines International choruses from around the world.

River City Sound has chorus members from as far as Sterling, Freeport and Madison, Wisconsin. Director Joan Boutilier is from Lake Zurich, Illinois.

The River City Sound members range in age from 26 to over 70. The chorus holds weekly rehearsals on Wednesday at the CBCBC in Belvidere.
