Represent Rockford fights legalized corruption in our political system

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A local group that meets once a month says they are fighting legalized corruption in our political system.

Represent Rockford is a local chapter of the national Represent Us movement. The group describes themselves as a cross-partisan group because they have individuals from both major political parties actively participating. The group says they're tired of campaign promises falling through.

"The corrupting influence of money in our political system is the issue that underlies all our other problems and why we can't get anything done, because politicians are basically so dependent on their campaign funders that they end up listening to their campaign funders more than they listen to the people," said Elizabeth Lindquist, the chapter leader of Represent Rockford.

Represent Rockford says while there are many ways the political system is corrupted; monetary funding is their biggest area of focus at the moment.
