Only a few days away from spring, Illinoisans might want to prepare for some weather conditions more than others.
Hail damage in Illinois caused State Farm to pay $330 million in auto and homeowners claims in 2018, according to a company
. State Farm's payments for hail claims were only higher in Colorado ($598 million) and Texas ($437 million) last year.
State Farm encourages people to put cars in garages or under shelters before hail develops if possible. Families are also encouraged to stay away from windows during hail storms and to check the condition of their roofs after hail has passed.
