ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR) --- For Terry Dyer, his passion for history started at a very young age. Now years later he furthers the stories of American was including that of Raymond Nelson Dyer, his father.

Dyer landed in Utah Beach during D-Day. Terry says his father said it felt as if the earth was shaking under his feet. Adding that there were multiple bodies and men that were wounded.

While Terry's dad has died, his story lives on through Terry who has dedicated his life to history.

"He mentioned to me once that he had actually made his peace with god that morning before they landed, that he most likely will be with him by the end of the day," says Terry.

Rockford Veteran's Memorial hall is having a lecture on the life of Terry's father on June 12, 10:30 AM.
