ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Today was the first rehearsal for Rockford Rhythm's Color Guard.

Rockford Rhythm is the Phantom Regiment's newest program. The Phantom Regiment has had a drumline since 2016, but they have now started a color guard to go along with the drumline.

Students in 6th through 12th grade are welcome to join. Students are taught by local band directors and alumni of the Phantom Regiment.

Alumni say the program is perfect for students who aren't interested in sports or who would like to learn more about the arts.

"The Phantom Regiment was my life and is still my life. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the Phantom Regiment and what I learned - dedication, hard work, team work, and to this day I still have many friends from when I marched way back in 1975,” said instructor and alumni Lynn Blade-Scovall.

It costs $100 for students to join. Participation includes practices every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11, multiple performances, and yearly clinics and camps.
