Red Cross opens shelter in Freeport to help flooding victims

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) -- The American Red Cross of Northwest Illinois has opened a second shelter in Freeport to help people who are affected by flooding in Northern Illinois.

The shelter is open as of 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

It is at Highland Community College Student Conference Center (building H) at 2998 West Pearl City Road in Freeport.

There is also a shelter in Rockford at Brooke Road United Methodist Church. That address is 1404 Brooke Road.

Red Cross volunteers will help victims gain access to things like lodging, food, and mental health support.
