Real Men Sing program looks to spark student's interest in choir

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Some choir teachers in Rockford Public Schools say there is a shortage of male singers in school choral programs. That’s why it hosts its real men sing program.

All male singers from RPS 205 came together Friday to learn from experts the proper techniques and how to become confident with their voices. Organizers say this experience allows the young men to be introduced to music and hope some of them will want to pursue it in the future.

“It's just really important for young people to be exposed to music and performing and just to give them a taste for it, I think,” said singer Zachary Owen.
