ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Jen Wubbels moved to Rockford less than a week ago, but she's already attending her second watch party at Jurassic Park RKFD.

Wubbels is a Toronto native and a long-time Raptors fan. After recently moving from Canada, the watch parties have helped her stay connected to her roots.

"It's been really exciting to be here this particular week when the Raptors are playing," said Wubbels. "It's felt like I brought a piece of home with me."

Wubbels says Canada has grown in love with Fred VanVleet, a Rockford native with the chance to win his first NBA championship on Thursday.

"He showed a lot of perserverance to get on the team and get to first string," Wubbels said. "I think that people in Canada really respect his work ethic.

Wubbels says the watch party was a perfect environment to watch Game 5.

"There was such energy here Monday night," Wubbels said. "It was kind of a disappointing ending on Monday, but I think they can pull it out."

Jurassic Park RKFD returns for the second time on Thursday. VanVleet and the Raptors have a 3-2 series lead heading into Game 6.

Gates are now open. and tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
