ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Hundreds of high school students gathered Friday for the 22nd annual Association of Latin American Students Hispanic Leadership Conference at Rock Valley College.

The event allowed students of Hispanic background to learn about post-high school graduation options, including careers and opportunities offered at Rock Valley College.

Leaders from community businesses and nonprofit organizations led the panel discussions, informing students about how to pay for college through scholarships offered at RVC and connect with faculty, administrators, and staff.

"This is a great chance for them to really, really explore other schools," said Diego Lopez, ALAS president at Rock Valley College. "There are so many different options, we have different programs. We try to provide education, but there are other opportunities out there."
