ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Rockford School Board has selected June Stanford to fill a school board vacancy.
The School Board interviewed four community members during open session of a special meeting Wednesday, including Stanford, Terri Schierer, Roger Smith and Dyanna Walker.
Stanford will take over the vacancy for Subdistrict G.
"The board is grateful to have four qualified candidates apply for the Subdistrict G vacancy, and for their willingness to serve the community in this important role,” said Board President Ken Scrivano.
RPS 205 board members started interviews during a special meeting Wednesday night, asking each potential board member what their qualifications are and why they want to serve.
"We're looking for folks who are interested in public education and interested in trying to drive academic achievement, improvement in our students,” said school board president Ken Scrivano. “And try to run an efficient and affective organization."
Stanford will be sworn in at the July 9 board meeting. Her term will run through the next School Board election in April 2021.
