A procession was held Thursday night after the death of McHenry County Deputy Jacob Keltner, who was shot while serving a warrant.

A procession will be held Thursday night after the death of McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Keltner.

The procession will start at 8 p.m. at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside. Keltner was taken to that hospital after he was shot.

Police say the procession will travel west on Riverside Boulevard from the hospital, south on Perryville Road before heading west on East State Street to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office at 420 West State Street.

Keltner was shot Thursday morning around 9:15 while serving an arrest warrant at the at the Extended Stay America hotel on Bell School Road. He was working with U.S. Marshals under the Great Lake Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he died around 3:30 p.m.

The suspect, Floyd E. Brown, was wanted for burglary charges in McLean County. Police say he later crashed his car on I-55 near Lincoln, where he was contained for several hours. ISP says he was taken into custody around 5 p.m.
