SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WIFR) -- J.B. Pritzker was sworn in as Illinois' 43rd governor on Monday.
Pritzker becomes the richest governor and the richest elected official in the nation when he takes the oath of office. He spent $171 million toward his campaign for election.
Pritzker says some of his immediate priorities include balancing the state budget, raising minimum wage and legalizing recreational marijuana. He is expected to move forward with a graduated income tax.
In the upcoming months, Pritzker could also address health care expansion and a gas tax to fund statewide transportation projects.
