The Illinois governor reallocated funds directed at the Discovery Partners Institute and the Illinois Innovation Network to the new center. It will focus on sustainability in food systems, water resources, and ecosystems at the college and teach students about research management in the wake of a changing climate, according to Pritzker.

"We are launching a new era for Chicago as an extraordinary focal point for an unparralled tech work force and research and development that will attract talent to our state from around the world," said Pritzker.
