Postal Service reminds families to clear snow and ice around homes

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Postal Service asks Stateline families for some extra help cleaning up snow and ice around their homes to make future deliveries safer.

Postal Service workers recommend clearing mailboxes, sidewalks, stairs and porches that may have been affected by Sunday's winter storm.

“Maintaining a clear path to the mail box will help letter carriers maintain consistent delivery service and help them get those cards and packages delivered in time for the holidays,” said postal spokesperson Sean Hargadon.

People are also encouraged to remove piles left by snow plows for easier access to their mailboxes.
