Polish Deli owner arrested on drug charges

Rockford, Ill. (WIFR) Police have arrested a man and Rockford business owner after a months-long narcotics investigation.

Detectives with the Rockford Police Department conducted a drug investigation and search of the Polish Deli at 3002 Charles Street in Rockford Monday. When issuing a search warrant, the owner, 29-year-old Arkadiusz Podczaski attempted to flee. He was taken into custody and cannabis was recovered from the store.

Podczaski has been charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis.

Over the past several months, detectives with the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received numerous complaints about drug sales at the business to patrons and to students at nearby schools.

Rockford City building inspectors and health department personnel inspected the property, and the deli was condemned for building code and health code violations.
