UPDATE: 64-year-old man killed in Rockford murder identified

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Updated: April 8, 2019, 3:15 p.m.

Samuel Randolph, a 64-year-old man from Rockford, was identified as the victim of a homicide on Alliance Avenue.

An autopsy determined Randolph died form blunt trauma of the body. The Winnebago County Coroner's Office says his death is considered suspicious in nature.

Police continue to investigate the murder. Officers found Randolph dead at a home in the 600 block of Alliance Avenue on Sunday around 4 a.m.

Police are investigating after a 64-year-old man was murdered Sunday morning in west Rockford

Officers were called to the 600 block of Alliance Avenue around 4 a.m. Police say the man was found dead at the scene.

While the cause of the death is unknown, officers suspect foul play lead to the death.

The victim's name has not yet been released. No one is in custody.

An investigation is active and ongoing. We will update as more information becomes available.
