UPDATE: Man found in Winnebago Co. died from several gunshot wounds

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office says Jamie Stephens, whose body was found in rural Winnebago County on Monday, died from several gunshot wounds.
The preliminary cause of Stephen's death was announced after an autopsy.
The investigation continues for the death.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity a man whose body was found on the rural outskirts of the county Monday afternoon.
Jamie Stephens, 31, of Rockford, was identified as the victim.
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the death as part of a murder investigation. Officials believe the body was intentionally left behind at 9200 Knapp Rd.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office says the body found in the 9200 block of Knapp Road was a 31-year-old man from Rockford.
Investigators believe the body was placed there intentionally. The name of the victim is being withheld until the family is notified.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office confirmed a murder investigation for the dead body found Monday afternoon.
Officials have also confirmed the dead body was one of a man.
Investigators say the man was found off the roadway near Knapp and North Meridian roads in a tree line. Officials believe the body was dropped off around the area intentionally, adding the man did not live around the area.

Police are investigating a dead body found Monday afternoon in rural Winnebago County.
A passerby in the area called police around 1:15 p.m. and told officers he found a dead body around the 9200 block of Knapp Road.
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office has withheld the person's age and gender. Officials consider the death suspicious, but are treating the death as a homicide.
