Rockford police: Shots fired, stolen car during drug purchase possibly related

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A man is okay after a suspect pulls him from his SUV and flees with the car near Boilivin Avenue in Rockford.

Police responded to a shots fired incident around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday near North Main Street and Boilvin Avenue.

Upon arrival, officer learned a a black, four-door car fired off shots at the victim outside his home. No one was hurt and nothing was hit by gunfire.

While on scene, a man flagged down officers saying he was robbed and had his car stolen in the 1300 block of Boilvin Avenue.

The victim told officers he was trying to buy drugs when a suspect held him up and another pulled him from his red SUV. The suspects took off in the car.

The victim was unharmed.

Police believe the two incidents may be related.
