There will be no classes Tuesday at Lena-Winslow schools after police advise of a domestic situation overnight.

Late Monday night, the Lena Police Department along with the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Department and several other departments responded to a residence in Lena for a subject that was having a mental event. The subject was wanting to harm himself, locked himself in his home and was an owner of many firearms.

Since the incident was near the school, the Stephenson County Sheriff's Office and the Lena Police Department requested that there be no school Tuesday, according to the school district's website. Employees should also not report to work.

Due to the incident, Lena Street was closed between Schuyler Street and Fremont Street. Around 7 a.m. Tuesday, the subject came out of his home without incident and was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Police say a suspect is now in custody and no one was hurt.
