UPDATE: Rockford Police say the teenage boy struck by gunfire multiple times Monday evening is in "critical, yet stable" condition.
Officials say the 16-year-old was shot during an altercation with three other boys around 5:30 p.m. on Mulberry St. and Miriam Ave. in Rockford.
Rockford Police say a boy taken to the hospital after being shot in the area of Mulberry Street and Miriam Avenue.
Police believe the boy, a juvenile, is battling life-threatening injuries. Police say he was shot several times in the 2000 block of Mulberry Street.
The boy was shot after a fight broke out between him and three other males around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Several emergency crews have responded to the area, and police have blocked off the area of Mulberry Street and Miriam Avenue.
